Youth know the truth

That the climate crisis will threaten the lives of hundreds of millions of people.

That we are at a crossroads in the history of humanity, and the action we do or don’t take will determine the future of civilization.

That we need widespread, systemic change, and that we need it now.

Hundreds of thousands of us have taken action — and we're only just getting started.

One strike doesn’t change government policy – an organized movement does. As a collective of young people from across the country, we aim to steer Canadian society off our current path of ecological and social catastrophe. Drastic climate action is the only option for humanity.

Show your colours

The green circle began in Quebec as a symbol of support for environmental policy during their 2018 provincial election. Since then, Canadian climate strikers have embraced the green circle as a representation of climate justice and solidarity. We encourage everyone to wear a green circle to show their support for the student climate movement and their desire for a socially, economically, and environmentally sustainable world.

Why we strike

“I strike because it gives me hope and helps stop the feeling of being too small and overpowered to make change.”

— Laura (Langley, BC)

“It’s 2019, and in countries like China, Colombia, and Russia, climate strikes are risking their lives to fight for change. I have no excuse not to act when I am so privileged.”

— Asha (Vancouver, BC)

“Just 100 companies are responsible for 70% for GHG emissions, [yet] convenient rhetoric keeps the blame and responsibility off their shoulders. I strike because I believe change is possible and because there is so much in this world worth protecting.”

— Emma (London, ON)

“By the time the deadline for stopping climate change arrives, I’ll still be in my 20s. This is how I can make a difference before it’s too late.”

— Adeline (Whitby, ON)

“I strike because it disrupts the ‘business as usual’ mindset and forces those around me to listen
when I speak about the [climate] crisis.”

— Allie (Toronto, ON)
